Middle School Milestones at OHCS
6th Grade
Middle School is a stage of transition from Elementary to High School for students! As a result, in addition to the physical and psychological transitions of fifth grade, sixth grade may prove to be challenging yet rewarding for parents and students alike. Students not only just started logic in school, they also demonstrate great growth in their capacity to empathize, in their cognitive abilities, and their physical development. They continue to hone independent learning capabilities enabling them to respond to a variety of situations.
Content matter is more focused and complex, like the impact of the Bible on human history spanning it's own and into ours; or the history of the 16th through the late 20th centuries; or literature set in their historical eras; or even algebra! At this stage they learn to prioritize engaging their environments logically and avoid fallacies. More importantly to them, students learn the importance of building positive peer relationships; setting personal priorities and establishing personal goals or boundaries socially and academically.

7th Grade
As students embark on 7th grade, the physical, emotional, and intellectual transitions that began in middle school continue. While a bit more demanding than previous years, 7th grade fosters tremendous growth for students and their families.
In their second logic year, students analyze diverse texts, write evidence-based essays, apply algebra concepts to learn new ones, join student projects and clubs, and organize materials from multiple teachers. By honing critical thinking and self-direction, 7th graders respond to new situations with deepening maturity. We aim to equip students to serve God and others with their developing gifts.

8th Grade
Eighth grade culminates the middle school journey through ongoing physical, social, and academic shifts. This transitional year can be challenging yet fruitful! While completing their middle school journey in the logic school, 8th graders will evaluate source credibility, write and express themselves in and for diverse purposes, analyze equations and provide proofs, lead through service, and prepare for high school and beyond.
By refining reason, independence, and faith, students step into high school ready to thrive. We strive to empower them as compassionate Christian leaders and lifelong learners.
